Real Weddings: Blossom & Bliss

From Tricia's Wedding Journal - The Proposal

"December 25, 2008. It is Christmas day. Latham, myself and the girls fly through the blistering colds of Chicago to share Christmas with my family. We already had a private Christmas celebration back in St. Louis with the girls opening their gifts from Santa and ours from each other. The house is packed with family, food, and festivities. The tradition being to pray, laugh, eat, and THEN open the gifts. Every gift had been opened and everyone was smiling about the bounty they collected. Latham then steps to the front of the room with his two beautiful daughters by his side. He presents me with two small wrapped boxes. Already I am not too surprised because Selah, the youngest, had leaked to me "Daddy bought you earrings for Christmas!" I take the two boxes, open the first and discover a gorgeous beautiful diamond ring. I look at Latham and his face is expressionless. I open the second box its none other than a second huge diamond ring. I am really confused at this point and look again to Latham for some sort of insight. My sister, Nichole, is by now prancing around waving tears from her eyes because she is obviously thinking exactly what I am thinking. I ASK HIM but his reply is only "Choose..." Confused, bewildered, and very nervous I stumble around my families living room showcasing the two beautiful diamond rings. One is a traditional princess cut flanked by two solitaire diamonds. The other is a flawless emerald cut surrounded by canary diamonds. I am torn between the tradition of one and the "too darn fly" of the other. I get the votes, and finally decide on being "too darn fly". He then brings me back to the center of the room with each daughter at his side and says..."Will join our family and will you marry me?" I say yes and then kiss him with a face wet from tears."
